Sushi Logs

Hello!

Dustin and I have become obsessed over the last few months with learning how to make sushi. Over time, and with lots of practice, I have to say we’ve gotten pretty good at it. Let me just say, making the rice is the most difficult part of the whole process. It took me a while to get it right.

The reason we have dubbed these rolls as “Sushi Logs” is because the more I began to make the rolls and the more adventurous I became, the bigger the rolls became. They no longer could be called rolls. They were logs.

Example — here is one of our rolls next to a quarter. Make sure you’re hungry when you make these.

I think a lot of people may get turned off from making sushi because they assume it’s difficult to make. I’m here to tell you that isn’t true. It’s quite easy, actually.

Once you give it a go, you will see just how easy it is. Then you will become obsessed with challenging yourself with creating your own rolls.

Please see the links to the individual rolls below, as well as how to make the spicy crab mixture, the sticky rice, and how to best prepare the bamboo mat for rolling.

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. tuna
  • 1 package of Crab stick

  • 1 gallon size hefty ziplock bag
  • 1 package of Soy Bean Paper Wrappers
  • 1 package of Seaweed Wrappers
  • 1 package of dried seaweed for topping
  • Medium sized bowl of water – * This is to keep your hand wet when handling the sticky rice in order for the rice to not stick to your hand.

Bamboo

Please see the step-by-step photos below:

Roll the bamboo mat from the bottom without sealing the top of the ziplock so the air is able to escape. Once all the air is out, you may seal the ziplock.

Voila! You will always have a clean bamboo mat! Now you’re ready to roll!

Directions:

  1. Slice and chop 8 crab sticks.
  2. Place in medium size bowl.
  3. Add 1/4 cup spicy mayo.
  4. Add 1/2 cup panic breadcrumbs.
  5. Mix thoroughly.
